World’s Largest Student Film Festival enables tens of thousands of students to create their first short movies.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – April 25, 2005 – Campus MovieFest, now in its fifth year of award-winning events, continues as the only event of its kind to let tens of thousands of students create short movies using provided technology. This Spring alone, nearly 15,000 students worked in teams to create 1,000 short movies during one-week events throughout Boston, Georgia, and Florida. All the movies are available online at www.campusmoviefest.com, where over three million visitors have experienced the events.

Each team received an Apple laptop, digital camcorder, and all the training and support necessary to create short movies in one week. Plus, hundreds of local musicians provided students with a library of music to use as their soundtracks. The movies are then screened by a panel of students and staff who choose the top movies at each school and in each state. Hundreds of winning students walked away from grand finale celebrations at their schools, The Fabulous Fox Theatre, and the New England Aquarium IMAX with prizes including Delta Air Lines tickets, Apple iPod shuffles, Apple Mac mini computers, and much more.

“It’s always been our dream to share these unforgettable events with masses of students around the globe, and this Spring brings us another step closer. The best news of all is that we’re just getting started,” said David Roemer, co-founder of Campus MovieFest.

The events, created by the team at Ideas United, LLC, are made possible by student and staff leaders at each participating university, as well as a number of corporate partners that are striving to make a difference in the lives of the participants. Delta Air Lines, now in its second year as the presenting partner of Campus MovieFest, leads the way.

Delta’s General Manager of Sponsorships and Events, Mike Hovey, explains, “Campus MovieFest is a creative and unique way to capture the passion of the college market through an interactive, engaging, and educational activity made possible by Delta.”

Campus MovieFest uses exclusively Apple technology (iBook and PowerBook laptops with iLife software). Other supporting and media partners include Krispy Kreme, Zifty.com, Timbuk2, GeeThree, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Boston Globe, and 99X.

Participating schools in Spring 2005 include Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Georgia, Georgia State University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, Clark Atlanta University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston College, Northeastern University, Emerson College, Tufts University, and University of Tampa.

The team at Ideas United, LLC, created Campus MovieFest in 2000 when they were students at Emory University. “We envisioned CMF as a way to build school spirit and teamwork while introducing the latest technology,” describes Dan Costa, co-founder of Campus MovieFest. Roemer, Costa, Ajay Pillarisetti, and Vijay Makar, have since expanded Ideas United and the Campus MovieFest concept, as the entire team at IU prepares to embark on a nationwide tour in 2005 - 2006. Participating schools and corporate partners are now being finalized.
